Galadriel
Lady of Lothlorien, 'Lady
of Light'. Galadriel is one of the oldest elves that has not journeyed
to
the West and is the barer of Nenya, one of the elven rings of power, the
Ring of Adamant, but with the One Ring she would be able to match Sauron
in power but in doing so she would become the evil that the ring wants.
" In place of a Dark Lord you will set up a Queen, not dark but beautiful."
Galadriel and her husband Celeborn look after the safe haven of Lothlorien
and with help of her magical mirror she enables a viewer to see the past,
present or future. Galadriel is played by Cate Blanchett, best known for
her role in Elizabeth , "I have always wanted pointy ears."
She has a brief role
in The Two Towers as she speaks to Elrond about the quest and decides
with him to send Elves to
help those at Helm's Deep and there is meant to be more so hopefully we
see more of it in the Special Edition DVD.
After the Tunnel of Cirth Ungol Frodo finds himself dispirited and alone, he had left his best friend behind and had been betrayed by someone he thought he could save. Exhausted Frodo falls to the ground and finds himself in the glade of Galadriel, she offers him a smile that would light up anyone's day and picks him up off his feet, giving him the strength to continue on his path, “Even the smallest person can change the course of history.”
Later when the Ringbearers are leaving Middle Earth she travels to the Grey Havens with Celeborn, her husband, Elrond her kinsman and board a ship with the Master ship wright Cirdan who also bore an Elven Ring of Power for a time before giving it to Gandalf. When the ship pulls into port she gives the hobbits a mischievous smile before boarding the boat.
Although Galadriel doesn't have a speaking part in this movie her presence is one of importance, you get to see her giving Frodo strength and passing into the West with the rest of her kin. By Calaquendimar
