Arwen
Arwen is the daughter of Elrond and Celebrian and granddaughter of Galadriel
and Celeborn, she is also known as Evenstar. She is famed to be the most
beautiful of the elves and wears the magical jewel called Evenstar, which
symbolises her being and her immortality and it is this she that gives
to Aragorn for his journey forever binding herself to him. " I choose
a mortal life." Arwen is played by Liv Tyler in a role that is modified
to make her replace Glorifindel on the horse Asfaloth in the movie, a
role that many fans were discouraged by, but is made successful in the
film. " As an Elf I had to be so erect and centered and to move effortlessly
and gracefully."
In the Two Towers Arwen doesn't have much of a role - mainly a flash back from Aragorn and a talk with her father Elrond. She waits in Rivendell for Aragorn's return despite the insistence of Elrond to take a ship to Valinor, she tells him "There is still hope" and that she has made her decision to stay with him. Elrond tells her what her fate will be like is she stays with Aragorn - that she will watch him wither and die though she will still linger - immersed in her grief - lost to all of the world where her fate will be to lie in the dying trees when only her memory remains. Such a sad tale for her - she agrees and the last we see of her is her leaving Rivendell in the dark to take a ship from Middle Earth.
In Return of the King
Arwen has a much larger role than in Two Towers. We first see her with
all the 
other Elves on their way to one of the last ships that are sailing. On
this trip Arwen sees a vision of a young boy being held up by Aragorn
and she realises that this is her son, Figwit calls out to her as she
turns and rides back to Rivendell where Elrond is still waiting amongst
the quiet city. Determined she convinces Elrond to reforge Narsil into
Anduril, Flame of the West as she slowly weakens, the light of the Evenstar
failing under Sauron's power. At the end Arwen returns in full splendor
to Minas Tirith to greet Aragorn and become his Queen. Yet again Liv is
beautiful and there are some images below of her in RotK.
